There is much emphasis today on living healthy and being fit. Incorporating a positive outlook and structure to a lifestyle can go a long way to adding years to a life. It is not just about eating well and exercising either, but also about approaching every day with inspiration and aspiration. Adding years to a life does not have to be a painstaking ordeal and can begin by adopting a few simple and easy-to-do steps, which, after awhile, will become second nature.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Drink more water. It is proven that drinking more water will keep the body well hydrated. Also, by adding more water to the diet the skin will look healthier and younger.
Step2
Consume more berries. Berries like strawberries, blueberries, cranberries and raspberries have been shown to contain natural healthful antioxidants, which can boost the immune system in ways that it can help ward off strokes, aging, and cancers as well as sharpen the mind.
Step3
Cut down on sugar and carbohydrates in the diet. Incorporating a low-sugar and low-carbohydrate diet into an everyday routine can help take off weight, which is known to lessen risks for numerous health conditions that will drain years from a life. Also, this type of diet will place a person at less risk for mental illnesses, like depression and anxiety.
Step4
Take a power nap during the day. People get caught up in the busy life of their day and often forget to take a moment and rejuvenate. A good practice is to grab a 20 to 30 minute nap during the mid-point of the day. This will help a person feel rejuvenated and help manage stress.
Step5
Do 30 minutes of housework. This can burn up to 150 calories and lower blood pressure. Again, trouble with blood pressure can shave years off a life, so engaging in activities that can add years back to a life is important. And for husbands, this is a great way to get on the wife’s good side.
Step6
Think more positively. A person that allows their mind to become weighted down with stress and problems is at an increased risk for medical conditions such as heart attacks, strokes and more. Sometimes, it is necessary to give yourself permission not to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders and learn that it is impossible to be everything for everyone.
Step7
Learn to laugh. Laughter is infectious and can go a long way toward helping people feel better about their lives and their days.
Step8
Refrain from talking on a cellphone while driving. It is proven that talking on a cellphone while driving contributes to car accidents. So why engage in an activity that might just end life? By refraining from it, a person adds to their life.
Step9
Add a little romance to the week. Having something nice to look forward to can be inspiring and being able to share romance and intimacy with someone you care about is a wonderful reward.
Step10
Eat fruits and vegetables with every meal. Again, adopting healthy eating habit like this can help a person lower their risk for health conditions that lower their longevity and by adding more fruits and vegetables to the diet, the person can add years to a life.
Step11
Get into a habit of moving the body. During commercials, get up and jog in place until the show comes on or do some stomach crunches. Try to park further away from a destination so that you will force yourself to walk a bit. Add an after dinner walk into the daily routine. It is important to stop making excuses and allowing the body to become sedentary, because this will shave years from a life.
Step12
Volunteer in the community. A person that feels useful and important feels as though they have a purpose in life. Again, this is part of the whole positive nurturing of self as a means to live healthier, happier and longer.
Step13
Reevaluate and let go of toxic relationships. These are not just personal companionships, but also friendships that drag a person down. Some relationships are unhealthy and unproductive, which lead a person into a stressful dynamic and cycle. It is important to realize when these types of relationships cannot be helped or fixed and when it is time to move on and passed them.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make adding years to a life a partnership. This can be done with a family or a close friend, but by partnering up with someone, you will have that support and assistance to keep up with the steps that will add years to your life.
