How to Discuss Politics in a Friendly Setting

  1. Step 1

So, you and your friends have been drinking for awhile (or not, either way), and politics comes up. Sweet! Chances are you guys are around the same page on some issues and maybe not others. Don't worry, you'll find out right away!

  2. Step 2

Well, we've found out that Chris is a die-hard democrat, TJ is completely apathetic, and James is a passionate religious conservative because his parents scared him into being so since the age of 4. Let's talk about the war in Iraq.

  3. Step 3

Chris is against the war. He believes the government was dishonest with us, this was about oil and corporate interests, bring our troops home because they're the greatest heroes we have and should only be put in harm's way when necessary. James is offended! Doesn't Chris remember 9/11? Saddam was behind that, wasn't he? TJ is in the other room looking for more beer.

  4. Step 4

Chris tells James he should check out the news sometime. He gives James a couple of books to read. James skips church that Sunday.

  5. Step 5

The three visit an Infoshop and three weeks later start an anarchist collective in the Pacific Northwest. They sure are glad they had that political discussion! Now they've found something they all can agree on!
