You need to know where to look to research a lawyer. Also know what information what you are looking for.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Phone
  • Computer
  • Phonebook
  • Know How

Step1
No matter what State you are in there is a Lawyers Group we will call it.
Step2
Look in your yellow pages and/ or your computer to choose a Lawyer
Step3
Now you found a Lawyer but he doesn't do Workmans Compensation but he had done work for Sally who works with you.
Step4
Call the Lawyer up and tell the secretary that you know Sally and you are looking for a Lawyer that does Workmans Compensation.
Step5
Now, you can call this Lawyer and ask if he has a website, references, and if he does free consultations.
Step6
Do check out all of the above leg work including calling the Bar Association or Lawyers group in your area.
Step7
If you have any doubts at all, there is no harm or foul by checking out another one or two. Go with who you are comfortable with.

Tips & Warnings

  • Personal References are Best
  • Bar Association is a Key contact of verification
  • Feel comfortable to ask Where did he go to school if it isn't on the wall
  • If you walk into an office that has one desk no paperwork on it
  • A chair and only a couch
  • All of the above is a red flag
