Dukkah is a Middle Eastern spice mix that adds flair to dips, olive oil or as a fantastic garnish or topping to finished dishes such as fish, meat, toast, salad etc.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 tbsp toasted hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 2 tbsp crushed coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 10 grinds black pepper

Step1
Crush the hazelnuts.
Step2
Put the crushed hazelnuts into a bowl with the remaining ingredients. Mix.
Step3
Store in an airtight container until needed for use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Sprinkle this mix over salads, savory toasts, pan-seared fish, grilled meat etc.
  • Dukkah is also fantastic when used in conjunction with olive oil tasting. Set out different olive oils in shallow, white dishes, cut up quality bread (French or Italian bread is ideal) into bite-sized pieces and place a decent amount of dukkah into a dish ready for dipping. Guests should dip the piece of bread into the olive oil of their choice, then dip the oiled bread into the dukkah and eat. It is refreshing and delicious.
  • Always let guests know that dukkah contains nuts.
