How to Get Help With Prescriptions in Ohio

If you are an Ohioan of any age and need help paying for prescription drugs, the Ohio's Best Rx is for you. Ohio's Best Rx offers discounts for residents of the state of any age without drug coverage. Applying if free and easy. The program is administrated by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).

  1. Step 1

    Living in Ohio, regardless of your age, allows you to apply for Ohio's Best Rx. If you are an individual making less than $24,504 or a family of 2 making $33,000 or a family of 4 making less than $50,004, you are eligible for the program.

  2. Step 2

    You can obtain an application form by contacting Ohio's Best Rx at (866) 923-7879 (TTY-1-866-763-9630 for the hearing impaired) or by going to the website at www.ohiobestrx.org and by writing to Ohio's Best Rx Program, PO Box 408, Twinsburg, OH 44087.

  3. Step 3

    Complete 1 application form per individual or family (a family is a couple, a couple with children or an adult with children). If you have additional children, you will be asked to list them in the space provided on the back of the form.

  4. Step 4

    Once approved for the program you will be sent an Ohio's Best Rx participant kit which will include your Best Rx Card and information about how to use it. After one year, you will be asked to renew your participation in the program.

  5. Step 5

    As a result of your participation you can expect to average 20 to 30 percent savings on your prescriptions. The website lists the latest in pricing information.
