So, you need some publicity. Perhaps you're a musician, artist, author or comedian. Publicity is incredibly important.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Phone
  • Decent press material
  1. Step 1

Select a media outlet that you want to interview you. This could be a television program, a radio show, a newspaper column or a bog. First thing is to target 1 specific program. Once you've gotten your program, it's time to start brainstorming.

  2. Step 2

Ask yourself the following questions and write down the answers. Why am I a good fit for this show? What do I have to offer their programming? Why do I want this interview in the first place?

  3. Step 3

Let's assume you already have a great press release about yourself as well as a well-written bio. If you do not have those things, see related eHow articles. Gather your press and your answers. Add your answers from Step 2 to the end of your biography so that it becomes your pitch.

  4. Step 4

Now, you have your pitch, and your pitch should tell the program the following: Why you are a good fit for them. Why they should want to have you. What it is that has occurred that warrants you an interview in the first place.

  5. Step 5

Mail or email your press to the appropriate party. This could be a producer, a booking agent or sometimes it is even the host of the show. Do your homework in regards to this matter and make sure you get your materials in the right hands.

  6. Step 6

In a couple weeks if you haven't heard anything, follow-up. Be persistent but not to the point that you're annoying.
