How to Find the Best Deals on Tires

Are you looking for a great deal on tires? Where do you start? How do you know you're getting the best overall deal? If you are wondering about any of these questions, don't worry; there is hope. You can easily follow the steps provided to help in your tire search. Before you know it, you will have found the best deal around!

Things You’ll Need:

• Newspaper(s)
• Weekly advertisement paper(s)
• Phone book (optional)
• Paper
• Pen

1. Gather as many newspapers and other weekly advertisements that you can to get a better selection. Keep an eye out for several weeks before your purchase date to get a larger amount of ads. If you do this, you could cut out any ad for tires and set them aside for future reference. Try to get at least 5, and more like 8 of these.
2. Check your tire for the size information. It will be inscribed on your tires sidewall, below the tire manufacturer's name. The number will include the relative width, relative wall height and the wheel size. These will be separated by a “/” (backward slash). It is a good idea to copy this number down.
3. Take a piece of paper and write down all of the companies that you found offering deals on tires. You should include the name, address and phone number of each one. Leave at least 4 spaces in-between each name to allow room for notes.
4. Decide how many tires you want. You should at least replace 2 at a time, but sometimes you can find better deals on replacing all 4 at once. You can ask the dealers for prices on 2 and 4, and then compare them.
5. Begin at the top and go down the list calling and verifying the deals they are offering. Make sure you ask for any additional fees charged for installing them. You will find that most ads do NOT include these in the price you see, and they can add up to a lot. These fees could be for, but are not limited to: tire balance, stems, install, disposal, warranty and others.
6. Once you have all of the needed information, compare all of the prices and select the best deal for you. You may be surprised how much you can save with just a little time invested. You may also find that it is not the “so-called” discount places that always have the lowest price on tires.

• You can also find tire size information in the owner's manual of your vehicle.
• If you cannot locate several companies through paper ads, another good source to use is your phone book. Look under “tire,” and locate any ads there.
• If there is a certain dealer you would like to use, see if they will match competitors advertised price. Many of them will do this to get and keep your business.
