If you are planning a spring wedding, this favor is a great take-home gift for guests. The flower seeds can be planted to provide guests with beauty and a remembrance of your special day all season long. Follow these easy instructions to make your own spring wedding favors.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Small terra-cotta pots (one for each favor)
  • Flower seed packets (one for each favor)
  • Small mints or candy
  • Permanent markers or paint markers
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (1/4 to 1/2 inch wide, white or in a color that compliments your wedding décor)
Step1
Purchase small terra-cotta pots. These pots are available in a variety of sizes, but 2 to 3 inches in diameter is the best size.
Step2
Write the bride and groom’s names, the wedding date or another personal message on each pot using permanent markers or paint markers. You can skip this step if you do not want to personalize the favors.
Step3
Cut a piece of ribbon for each favor. You can adjust the length based on the desired look, but 8 to 12 inches should be about right. For a larger bow, cut a longer piece.
Step4
Tie the ribbon in a bow around each pot, either around the thick rim or just below the thick rim.
Step5
Insert a packet of flower seed into each terra-cotta pot. Bend the packet and insert it into the back of the pot.
Step6
Fill each pot with small candy or mints in front of the flower seed packet.

Tips & Warnings

  • This spring wedding favor can be personalized in many ways, including using personalized printed ribbon, painting the terra cotta pots or adding a printed or handwritten tag to the ribbon.
  • Personalize these favors by including flower seeds of the bride’s favorite flower.
  • Terra-cotta is absorbent and may not take markers well. Buy an extra terra-cotta pot or two to test markers on.
