Resuscitate the ancient art of letter writing with an interesting spin! Make it more interactive and fun for your reader by turning your letter into a puzzle. Follow these easy steps and before long, your friends will think you're the most crafty one among the group.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Bristol paper or cardstock
  • Watercolor Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Cup of water to rinse brush
  • Paper towel to dry brush
  • Envelope for sending letter
Step1
Gather your materials.
Step2
Think of a pattern, design, or scene to paint on the paper. You don't need to be a master artist. Even a simple stripe design or dots or a geometric pattern will do. If you're handy with a paintbrush, paint a landscape or another scene. The amount of colors and types of patterns you use will determine the level of the puzzle's difficulty. The fewer colors, the harder it will be to put together. Make sure the colors you choose aren't too dark or they'll be hard to write over.
Step3
After the watercolor has dried, grab your favorite pen or fine-tipped marker and write a letter!
Step4
Next, cut the letter into puzzle-like shapes. The more intricate the shapes, the more difficult it will be to put together.
Step5
Put the pieces in an envelope. You may also want to paint the envelope you’re sending to match the pattern on the letter.
Step6
Send!
