Bloating can happen to anyone at any time. It can be caused by a number of things that can easily be avoided but here are the three major causes of bloating not related to PMS.

From Quick Guide: Crohn's Disease 101
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cut back on salty foods. Excess salt in the body can cause it to retain water and bloat.

  2. Step 2

Drink more water. The body will store extra water when it feels it's not getting enough. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to avoid your body going into this "starvation mode."

  3. Step 3

Figure out what foods give you gas and either avoid them or take a anti-gas solution such as Beano.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not take diuretics to get rid of bloating. After your body has flushed the water, it will go into the starvation mode described in Step 2, making bloating even worse.
