Make a Valentine's Day Card for Your Sweetie

If you really want to do something special for your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day, why not make a homemade Valentine’s Day card? Homemade Valentine’s cards are more meaningful than store bought cards—-and they’re fun to make!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut cardstock or construction paper into the shape that you want. One suggestion is to cut it into a heart shape. Or just fold the paper in half to make a standard card shape.

  2. Step 2

Cut out pictures or words from magazines that convey your love. Some examples of words to look for could be: love, kiss, passion, beauty. You could also look for pictures of flowers, candy or pretty scenery.

  3. Step 3

Arrange the words and images on your card and carefully glue them on.

  4. Step 4

Embellish the card with artwork or glitter. You can paint swirly designs, heart shapes or other designs on the card. Use a little glue to mark where you want other embellishments--like glitter--to go and use it sparingly.

  5. Step 5

Inside the card, write your own heartfelt sentiments. The words that you write will be the most meaningful part of the card.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you let the card dry completely before you give it to your Valentine.
  • If you have a collection of old Valentine's cards that you have saved over the years, use images from them to make a collage on your homemade Valentine.
  • Be creative when choosing items to glue onto your card. If you have ticket stubs or postcards from places you have visited with your sweetie, cut them out to make a memory-filled card.
