Anyone who is competing at a state or national indoor and field target tournament should be aware that there is a dress code that is strictly implemented. Not following the dress code may mean a disqualification, so it is important to know the rules before going to the competition site.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • NAA (National Archery Association) Dress Code Publication
  1. Step 1

Trousers/short/skorts/skirts: Must be made of any suitable navy blue, white or khaki material. Blue denim is not allowed indoors but may be allowed in the field. Sweat pants are not allowed unless an inclement weather had been declared by the tournament officials.

  2. Step 2

Shorts/skirt: When standing, an archer should be able to reach the end of the short or skirt with her fingertips.

  3. Step 3

Upper garments such as blouses, collared shirts, golf shirts and tee shirts in any colored combination are allowed except in camouflage. Women can wear blouses with shoulder straps at least 3 inches or larger. Men can wear short- or long-sleeved shirts. Also, the shirt should be long enough to cover the midsection of the body--no tummy should show.

  4. Step 4

Camouflage is not allowed on both upper and lower garments. You can, however, use camouflage materials in accessories such as quivers, shoes and armguards.

  5. Step 5

Footwear must be worn during the competition. Running shoes, tennis shoes and leather shoes are just a few samples of what kind of footwear to use.

  6. Step 6

Avoid wearing clothes with obscene language or symbols of sex, alcohol or drugs.

  7. Step 7

See-through outfits are not allowed for either men or women on upper or lower garments. Avoid exposing too much flesh.

  8. Step 8

If competing with a team, a uniform should be worn to identify with the team.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always check the official rules during registration.
  • Bring extra outfits within guidelines in case you need to change.
  • Do not push the envelope by trying to break the rules, you will just be asked to forfeit if you do not follow the dress code policy.
