Keeping your twin infants on the same schedule is your key to staying sane. Decide on a routine or schedule before they are born, and begin it as soon as you bring the twins home. Find a schedule you like that was designed for just one baby and adapt it to work with twins. It may seem hard at first to keep the twins on the schedule, but with consistency on your part, they will eventually fall into the routine. Having your twins on the same schedule will give you a little time to rest and keep you from being run ragged.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Schedule or routine written in a notebook

Step1
Research and decide on a schedule you like and write it down in a notebook. Make a chart with separate time slots for feeding, changing and holding the twins, as well as time slots for naps. This will be an ideal to aim for. Your twins will not stay on the schedule at first.
Step2
When one twin wakes up to the fed, feed the other one also, even if you have to wake her up to do so.
Step3
Feed both infants at the same time. If you don not have a second person to help you, use infant seats.
Step4
Be sure to put both babies down when it is time for a nap, even if one doesn't seem as tired as the other. This is important for keeping them on the same routine of eating and waking.
Step5
Be consistent with steps 1 to 4. Eventually, they will both automatically start waking up and getting tired at the same time.

Tips & Warnings

  • It may take two months or more of trying before the twins will fully be on the same schedule. Just keep being consistent. The results are worth it.
