Psoriasis is a non-contagious autoimmune disorder that affects almost 3 percent of the world's population. Sometimes the most difficult aspect for a psoriasis sufferer is the disfiguring skin eruptions that characterize the disorder. That, along with the itching and pain, can make life incredibly difficult during a flare-up. Here are some tips that have helped me live with this condition.

on 4/19/2008 Actually, conventional medicine offers much more than just steroids. Herbal and natural remedies are always worth trying, but beware that there is as much "snake oil" out there as there is genuine help.
There is help on several fronts. The biologics and methotrexate both work on the autoimmune origins of the disease.
The methotrexate is used in much lower doses than when it is used as a cancer drug, and there are drugs given along with it which help the body avoid the side effects.
The biologics go straight to the cellular foundations of the disease and stop the process before it can get started.
Treat the symptoms, treat the origins, avoid stress, be gentle with yourself.

on 4/19/2008 Unfortunately the only solution for psoriasis that official medicine offers is Steroids: the case of cure being worse than a disease.
Luckily, I finally found a natural alternative that keeps my psoriasis under control for long periods of time: it is the herbal spray and cream combination by champori.com (http://www.champori.com) Available online from Colorado. Truly wonderful stuff!!

on 3/25/2008 I think Methotrexate would be used in the severe case of psoriasis because it is the drug used in cancer therapy.
