Keeping your Windows PC healthy and running well can be a snap. Just follow some of these tips and it should be smooth sailing.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Antivirus software
  • Spybot Search and Destroy
  1. Step 1

One of the best things you can do to keep your computer running well is to run Disk Defragmenter. It can be found under "All Programs", "Accessories", then "System Tools. Defrag, as it is referred to, cleans up the files on your disk drive. You can even set it to run regularly by itself.

  2. Step 2

Spyware is a scourge among Windows users. To combat this, run spyware detection programs like "Spybot Search and Destroy." It will find and delete spyware you might run into on your Internet travels. Best of all, most of these programs are free.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you update your antivirus software regularly. Companies are always finding new and destructive viruses out there in the wild, so they release updates almost weekly. You can also set your programs to update by themselves easily.

  4. Step 4

Using Mozilla Firefox will cut your chances of getting hit with spyware, which could put the personal info on your computer at risk. It is free and even has a great built-in pop-up blocker.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try not to click on pop-up ads, as they sometimes have spyware and viruses waiting to infect your computer.
  • Avoid using P2P sites, because a lot of those files are infected with spyware and viruses.
