Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Wall Mount Indoor Water Wall Fountain
- Measuring Tape
- Stud Finder
- Carpenters Level
- Drill (with phillips driver)
- Screw Driver (phillips and flat head)
- Pencil
- Pliers
- Scrap Piece of 2x4 (about 2 feet long)
Step1
Open the box containing the wall fountain and spread the items out so you can access them easily.
Step2
Identify where on the wall you want to place the feature. (Ideally a GFI Electrical outlet will be concealed behind the feature.) Make sure this outlet will fit within the allotted space of the mounting bracket. Place a mark on the wall in the desired location of the top center of the feature.
Step3
Mark each wall stud on the wall area which will be concealed by the water feature. Using a stud finder will help make sure your marks are accurate.
Step4
Mount the installation bracket on the where you wish to hang the feature. Each make and model of fountain will have specific mounting instructions for that particular model and mounting bracket. If you are unable to access studs for all anchor screws use an “easy anchor” to secure the screw into the drywall.
Step5
For some features you will need to secure the water distribution unit at the top of the stone. To maximize even water flow, make sure the distribution unit forms to the front face of the stone.
Step6
Secure the supply water line to top of the water distribution unit (use a zip tie or hose clamp to ensure a tight fit.) Often the water distribution unit is made of a pliable copper and once the unit is secure in place, it a good idea to clean it with a Scotch Bright pad.
Step7
If the electrical source for the feature is on the wall behind the feature plug in the cord before you hang the stone. Set the stone on the scrap piece of wood on the floor in front of the hanging bracket and with plenty of people power lift the stone into place. By placing the stone on the 2x4 you will be able to get your fingers under the slab without hurting yourself.
Step8
Attach the water supply hose to the pump at the bottom of the feature. Each unit may have a different method for attaching the water collection tray at the base of the feature.
Step9
Fill the feature will distilled water. Make sure all tabs are set and that the water naturally flows down the face of the stone. Read your instruction manual for any instructions on any fine adjustments you may need to make in order to keep the water flowing evenly down the feature.
Step10
Attach and secure the hood component at the top of the feature. Plug in and secure the lighting features at the top of the water wall. Then fill the peddle tray at the base with pebbles.
Step11
Make sure the unit is filled sufficiently with distilled water. Too much water and the feature will overflow and splash. Too little water and the stone will not stay wet and the pump may draw air into the intake.
