Compressed, or “zipped” files and folders use less drive space and they can be transferred to other computers quickly. You can even add more files to a compressed folder. Here’s how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click “Start” and then click “My Computer."

  2. Step 2

    Navigate to the drive that contains the compressed folders to which you want to add a file.

  3. Step 3

    Double-click the compressed folder.

  4. Step 4

    Find the files you want to add to the compressed folder.

  5. Step 5

    Drag files to the compressed folder to compress them.

Tips & Warnings
  • Compressed folders are easy to spot. Look for a folder icon with a zipper on it.
