Step 1
Determine if your pet rock is male or female. If the rock is to be a family pet, allow everyone to offer suggestions for a good name. However, if the rock is to be yours alone, name him whatever you want to name him. The opinions of others should not matter. This is your special relationship. After all, you are the one that is making the lifetime commitment to your rock.
-
Step 2
Do not feel that you have to name your pet rock right away. In fact, it is a good idea to spend time examining and getting to know your pet rock before you name him. Once you learn your rock’s likes and dislikes and personality, choosing a name for your pet rock is easier.
-
Step 3
What makes your pet rock’s appearance unique? Does he have freckles? Is he shaped funny? Is he shiny and slick? Is he rough or cracked? Does he have an area on his body that is darker or lighter than the rest of his body? Your rock’s unique characteristics can go far in helping you choose a name.
-
Step 4
If you are still stumped over choosing a name for your pet rock, consider famous names. This could be historical figures or mythological characters. To get your mind working, get books or go online. These are great places to find lists of names.
-
Step 5
If you plan on growing your pet rock family, think of a name that would be easy to match with other names. For instance, they could all start with a particular letter or end in the letter “y."
