Step 1
Develop a mission statement for your Puppet Ministry. This can be a sentence or two about your ministry that will inspire volunteers to want to join you.
-
Step 2
Know how the ministry will work. Decide whether the ministry will target children or adults or both. You also must determine how often to practices and put on shows. Decide if you're going to write skits or buy the material. These decisions will help you to compose a budget and to determine how much help you'll need.
-
Step 3
Many people might be interested in volunteering for your Puppet Ministry because it sounds like a fun opportunity. Take into account what age you want your volunteers to be. Young children may not follow directions very well, so you may want to take on people 12 and up, or 18 and up.
-
Step 4
Recruit reliable people. They should feel committed to the ministry, so that they will attend rehearsals regularly and not just show up to do a show. Keep your volunteers focused on using the puppets as a way to teach children about God. It is a serious ministry, and you need dedicated volunteers.
-
Step 5
Interview candidates. Ask individuals why they want to join the ministry. Their answers may reveal where they would best fit in the ministry. Not everyone can be a puppeteer, but you also need writers, stagehands and devotion leaders.
-
Step 6
Determine how many volunteers you need. Note how many parts are in the skits and the size of your venue. You want enough volunteers to make the puppet shows run smoothly, but not so many that people are getting in each other's way.
-
Step 7
Consider starting small so everyone can get used to each other, the puppets and how the whole ministry will run. You can find plenty of skits that only involve two or three puppets. Then, if you find that you need more volunteers, you can always recruit them.
