Just like any other pet, a pet rock needs to feel that it has a place all its own to escape the “busyness” of family life.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn whether your pet rock is a male or female. A boy pet rock will not want to live in a home that is decked out with pastels. Likewise, a girl pet rock will not want to live in a home styled in earth tones with sports team logos on the wall.

  2. Step 2

Locate an old shoe box for your pet rock if it is large. If your pet rock is still an infant, an empty box that once contained long-stemmed matches will work great.

  3. Step 3

Color or paint the carpet and walls of your pet rock’s residence. Colors that evoke the feeling of a cave could make your rock feel right at home.

  4. Step 4

Use a new, unused kitchen sponge for your pet rock’s bed.

  5. Step 5

Cut out two strips of material in the shape of a circle. Sew them together, but leave a 1-inch opening. Fill it with beans or rice. Sew the opening closed. This will be your pet rock’s chair.

  6. Step 6

Use construction paper and make your pet rock some art to hang on his walls.

  7. Step 7

You can make your pet rock’s home simple or elaborate. Your pet rock can have one small room for sleeping, or you can construct a mansion. You can make a living room, kitchen, bathroom, exercise room, entertainment room, music room, hobby room, laundry room, front porch and more. All that limits you is your imagination!
