How to remove fiberglass from your skin

Have you ever worked with insulation or fiberglass material and suffered for 2-3 from skin irritation. Its caused by the little pieces of fiberglass that get lodged in your skin.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • shower
  • packing tape or duct tape

Step1
Take a shower. Start with the water as cold as you can take it then give yourself a break and get it nice and hot. Repeat if you can :) This does the trick most of the time if you still feel itchy after that proceed to step 2.
Step2
I prefer packing tape but duct tape should have the same affect. repeatedly apply the tape to the irritated area and remove. If using the packing tape you should see some of the fiberglass dust and dry skin pull off. Repeat until the irritation is minimal.
Step3
If it's still itching then try to soak in a tub for awhile. Change the water a couple times.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear long sleeves and a respirator/mask when working with fiberglass.
  • If you have any allergies to tape hopefully you are not desperate enough to try step 2.
