You open up your baby's diaper to discover your baby has an angry-looking rash. The first thing she needs is to have her diaper taken off and skin cleaned well. The easiest, least painful way to do this is to place her in a few inches of tepid water in a bathtub. Once she's in the water let the dirty water drain out slowly as you pour additional water on her diaper area. After the germy water empties, lay your baby down and very gently clean any areas that still need attention using a very soft, wet cloth. Let her sit in the tub with additional, clean water for a few minutes. Then dry her off by gently patting the painful areas. If it's warm enough to be outside with few clothes on, perfect! If not, dress her in a long shirt or dress and socks only. This is no time for baby diapers, nappies, napkins, pampers, whatever you call them. Turn up the thermostat if you must but keep her private area bare. If you feel compelled to diaper her, use a cloth diaper fastened as loosely as possible with no diaper cover. Good air circulation is imperative!

Inspect her rash carefully. Do you see little red spots? If so, this skin rash is probably a yeast rash. The cure for this is simple, plain yogurt. It contains acidophilus that will fight the yeast. Of course, you could spend several hours taking her to the doctor for a prescription for an anti-fungal ointment. Or you can simply take about 2 Tablespoons of plain yogurt at room temperature, warm it with your fingers and spread it on the rash. This will kill the yeast very effectively. Reapply the yogurt every time you change her diaper or every two hours whichever comes first until the redness disappears.

If there are no little red spots but rather a generally reddened area, then likely it's just a regular diaper rash, AKA contact dermititis, caused by prolonged exposure of skin to urine or feces. Homeopathic Calendula ointment is by far the best natural remedy to cure it. This homeopathic remedy originates from the pot marigold. The natural healing from Calendula ointment is truly amazing. It is by far the most effective remedy we've found.
You won't find Calendula ointment at your local baby store. You'll have to visit your local health food store or buy some online. It's one of many completely natural treatments that homeopathy provides. It has no bad side effects and is completely safe for babies, children, teens and adults.
Gently spread a very thin even layer of ointment on any red area every two hours or whenever you change her diaper. More is not better.

Now you get to experience life without diapers! The longer her bottom is bare and clean, the faster she'll get better. You will need to camp out with her in an area of your home where puddles can be easily cleaned up. Keep her happy with toys in an empty kiddie pool if you have no hard floors. Or better yet play outside together in the shade if the weather is warm enough.

When the magic nap-time hour arrives, place her in her baby crib with several layers of towels beneath her. Baby blankets are fine for on top. Be prepared to do a lot of laundry for a few days.

Give her as much liquid as she will drink. If she has a yeast rash, don't give her juice or anything with added sugar. Of course, she will need her milk or baby formula. Water is the next best beverage for her at this time, the more the better. This will dilute her urine so it doesn't sting as much. Feed her at least 4 oz. yogurt with active cultures in it daily for a week. Restrict desserts.
