Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Stay calm. The thought of having to care for another life might be a little overwhelming at first. Just remember that you can get through it like so many have before you.
Step2
Make use of your family and friends that want to help you through this difficult time. If you have loved ones who offer to help you out with the care of your child, don’t be too proud to take them up on their offer. For example, family can provide cheap child care in a trustworthy environment. Just don’t take advantage of those who are helping you.
Step3
Finish obtaining your education. It is important that you finish your education. You will have more options in the future for you and your baby with an education. Either in a school environment or outside of it. You may want to take correspondence classes to obtain your diploma. Another option is getting a General Education Degree or G.E.D. This is obtained through studying certain criteria and passing a test.
Step4
Get a job. Working, at least part time, will give you the means to care for your new baby. You will need to provide food, clothing, grooming instruments, diapers and an array of things to keep your baby happy and healthy.
Step5
Look into government funding. You want your baby to have the best circumstances to grow up in, and if you can’t provide it all yourself, make sure you take advantage of all funding available. There are state and federal programs that you may apply for, and if you meet certain criteria, they may help provide healthcare, food, housing, child care or grants that will pay for your education.
Step6
Spend time with your child. With everything that you will be doing for your baby, you may feel like you never even see them. Remember that everything you are doing is for the benefit of the child, however you must make time to spend with the baby. You should not leave the raising of your child to others, simply because you don’t have time. If you budget your time properly, you will find that there are indeed enough hours in the day to get everything done. Do your best to provide your baby with all it’s needs, and enjoy the time you do get to spend cuddled up with them.
