How to Send Flowers as a Secret Admirer for Valentine’s Day

Every year in late January, the stores begin to fill up with hearts and flowers. That’s right, it’s Valentine’s Day, the day devoted to love and romance. Historically, young men and women would draw lots to decide who would be each other’s Valentine. These couples would exchange gifts, and sometimes become engaged. Nowadays people still send sentimental gifts such as flowers, but prefer to pick their own Valentine.

1. Finding a Valentine is the first step in sending flowers. It is widely accepted to send Valentine’s gifts to people who don’t know you have romantic feelings toward them. This makes you their secret admirer. This person should be someone whom you know and that knows you, after all this is a day for romance, not stalking.
2. Go to a local flower shop. You will find a variety of floral bouquets specifically for Valentine’s Day. If you know what kind of flowers your secret crush likes best, look for a bouquet that includes that particular kind. You can also make up your own bouquet with flowers that they like or that have sentimental meaning. Traditionally, red roses symbolize love. If you don’t know their favorite flower, you can usually pick out a ready-made bouquet or ask the florist's opinion on what type of flower to send, as they will usually know the meanings of different flowers.
3. Pick a card to send with your bouquet. You may want to write out a personal sentiment to your card. If you prefer to keep it as anonymous as possible, you can leave out anything additional. The card does, however, need to have at least the name of your love, so you know it will get to the proper person.
4. Deliver the flowers, or have the flower shop deliver them if that is a service they offer. The flower shop may charge an extra fee for delivering your flowers, but this is the best way to keep their origins a secret. If you think you can get them to your secret sweetheart without them seeing you, you may want to do it that way. The bouquet can be delivered to their home or work, depending on where you know them from. Another idea for the delivery is having a mutual friend deliver them.
5. Sit back and wait to see if your love interest can figure out that you are their secret admirer. If luck is on your side, your crush will be able to figure out where the flowers came from. And if Cupid is on your side, they will feel the same way about you!
