Step 1
Get input from your students and their parents. There are many great science fiction children's stories, so pick out books your kids want to read.
-
Step 2
Make sure they get it. After each chapter, have a short discussion or writing assignment. You can have students summarize what happened in the chapter, or have them predict what will happen next.
-
Step 3
Get creative! Science fiction stories are great inspiration for creative writing assignments. If your students are reading "My Teacher is an Alien" by Bruce Coville, for example, you can have them imagine what would happen if they found out their own teacher was an alien.
-
Step 4
Make it fun. Have your students act out their favorite scenes. Make dioramas inspired by the stories. Come up with a guide as a class on what to do if you see a ghost or a UFO.
