How to Find a Job for $100,000 a Year and Up

High end professional jobs are very difficult to locate and generally are filled through what is loosely known as networking but is actually just who you know through previous jobs. So staying employed and making connections at work are critical to move your career along. If you want to create a six-figure opportunity out of the ethers, follow these steps. Assuming you aren’t destitute and looking for any work you can get, and hopefully you’re still employed anyway, don’t waste your time working the advertised job market.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Create extremely professional and absolutely perfect marketing documents including a resume and marketing or sales letter that promotes your proposed contribution to your next employer based on cogent experience and knowledge. No less than perfect is allowed. If possible, write a two page letter that can be mailed without the resume (most people can’t even imagine this, but your lead generation program will be much more powerful and successful if you don’t mail out your resume unsolicited). However, do the best you can on this issue.
Step2
Research a list of 1,500 CEOs, presidents or other leading executives depending on your career (CEO works well for everyone, so don’t get caught up figuring out how to deviate from this principle) in companies or organizations that demographically match your preferred work environment. Add 100 to the list for each $10,000 of income over $100,000. Don’t expect to achieve this in one shot. A good list developer takes years of experience to hone their skills. There are many online data services you can subscribe to for this information, and there are still CDs you can purchase that feature most of the top companies in the country (or world) with many different factors on which you can sort. Be careful not to compromise your search criteria because you are too restrictive geographically.
Step3
Mail a letter with a hand-typed envelope to each person on the list. This is tedious, but returns are much higher when you don’t use labels.
Step4
Urge the recipient of these letters to call you on the telephone. You can also use email, but a phone call is more powerful. Plus it requires you to be more focused and available. When you receive calls, your focus becomes an invitation to an interview.
Step5
Send a short follow-up letter to everyone on the list who doesn’t respond after two weeks. This letter should be very brief and make reference to your first letter as well as highlight the unique selling proposition you used in your first letter (your most marketable asset). Again ask for a phone call.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be prepared for some very challenging telephone calls from your target market.
  • Enjoy this exciting way to create a new dream job for yourself and your family.
  • The target is 30 incoming phone calls, 10 invitations to meetings, three job offers and one dream job.
