Need to know how to stop coughing, preferably without medication? A cough, whether from a cold, acute bronchitis or chest infection, can be painful and irritating. And the more you cough out your germs, the more likely you are to infect others. Here's how to stop coughing.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Stop coughing

    Stop coughing

Realize that coughing is your body's natural response to rid itself of impurities and waste during sickness. The key is to get well and your body will stop coughing on its own. However, if too much coughing is over-taxing your body, stopping it sooner makes sense.

  2. Step 2
    Raw honey

Take a spoonful of raw honey to soothe your throat and help with healing.

  3. Step 3

Try aromatherapy. Mix together three drops of eucalyptus oil, two drops of thyme oil and two teaspoons of soft or melted coconut oil. Rub into chest region and breathe deeply.

  4. Step 4

Make an herbal tea using Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara), also called coughwort, a known cough suppressant. The herb is also available in tincture and capsule form. Be sure to take under the direction of a physician, naturopathic doctor or herbalist.

on 7/14/2009 Kratom is many things, but it is not a cough suppressant. If your symptoms are relieved, and kratom still interests you, please visit www.kratomonly.com. It won't cure your cough, but it may surprise you.

on 5/11/2009 Awesome ideas... but I thought that the nose, ears and throat kinds work together..so what I did was cleaned my ears and it stopped my cough immediately. I hope this can help someone else... :)

on 12/31/2008 I tried this and it helped too, get some kind of alcohol.. (strong) preferably whiskey add some honey (teaspoon) then add some lemon to it... put all in a shot glass.... take the shot.
take another lemon add salt... suck on it.
A great herbal tea for the pains and the coughing. kratom.
trust me on the kratom.

I love herbals. Kratom will help give you your energy back, at higher doses it will help you relax.
If you don't have a cough and you are very sore take about 15 grams of kratom (regular... not extract)
the extracts miss some of the alkaloids that make it work.
hope this helps... be easy on me this was my first comment on here.
