Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter...all of these holidays are opportunities for your children to accumulate an abundance of sweets that are less than healthy. Here are a few simple ideas to decrease the amount of sugar that your children take in.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
The first idea is to let your children choose a few of their favorite types of candy. You can take the rest to local homeless shelters, hospital nursing stations or teachers at your kids' schools. This is a great way to teach your children to be generous.
Step2
You can buy the candy from the kids and in exchange for a bag of candy you could give them $5 for them to spend on a non-sugar treat such as a book, toy or coloring book.
Step3
Again let the kids pick out their favorites and then take the rest to your office and share with co-workers. Your co-workers will appreciate the treat, and it is good to teach your children to share.
Step4
You can use a lot of the chocolate pieces in baking, and some of the other candy can be kept and used to decorate birthday cakes or cupcakes.
