This day and age with computers and play station, it's very easy to hike up that electric bill. here are a few tips to conserve energy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Awareness of what you do

Step1
Turn off the computer. When you get home, I am sure most of you go straight to your computer. You fiddle with it, checking e-mails and surfing on line, than what? You leave that and turn something else on, like the tv. I myself have been guilty of this. When you are done with the computer, simply shut it down and be aware of turning off the surge protector as well!
Step2
Instead of turning on all the lights on, if it's a sunny day, open the curtains, let the natural light in. Think about it, do you really need to be burning those watts on a bright clear day? Sunlight will give you plenty of light.
Step3
Cut down on tv watching. If your home all day, the tendency is to veg out and watch the tube. ALL DAY, that is what? over 8 hours of tv? Imagine the juice it's pulling, Read a book.
Step4
When not in use, turn off the juice! After leaving a room, turn the light off. Use lamps instead of wall lights. Use night lights and Use energy saving bulbs also. Candles are a good source of light and makes for a romantic and calming atmosphere.
Step5
In the summer time, many people have a tendency to leave their AC on while they are not home for hours. They do this so that when they get home, the house is nice and cool. Run it when you are home and run it on energy saver. it shouldn't take too long to cool the place off. Make sure the fan is set on low. It's that simple. Doing this way it's worth a lower bill in the end.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be conscious and aware and pretty soon you will see how a 3 digit bill becomes 2 digits. My electric bill is 34 a month, not bad huh?
