As any busy parent knows, figuring out how to transport your kids to the various practices and other extracurricular activities on your collective calendar can be a challenge. Read on to learn more about how to transport your kids to soccer practice.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Access to traffic reports
  • Maps
  • Bus or train fare
  • Bicycle
  • Carpool schedule or calendar
  1. Step 1

Listen to the radio or watch local traffic reports on television if you take heavily traveled roads to soccer practice. With this information, you will be able to know when to leave the house so your kids will be to practice on time.

  2. Step 2

Keep street maps of your area in your car in case you need to take a detour on the way to soccer practice.

  3. Step 3

Transport your kids to soccer practice in a timely fashion by making sure they have everything they need before you head out the door. Leave bulky equipment such as goalie pads and gloves in the car to make the process of getting out the door and to the fields quick.

  4. Step 4

Give your child money for public transport so he can get to soccer practice by himself if you cannot drive him there. In many metropolitan areas, bus and train fare can be loaded onto a refillable card that he can keep in his backpack or wallet.

  5. Step 5

Suggest that your child ride her bicycle to practice if you live close enough and the roads are safe. Pack her practice gear in a backpack that can easily be handled while riding a bike. Make sure she wears a helmet and brings water with her to avoid dehydration.

  6. Step 6

Coordinate a carpool with some of the other parents of children who practice at the same time. Each person can be assigned a specific day to do both the drop off and pickup or one person can do all drop offs and the other can do the pickups. This will save everyone time and the kids will probably be happy to socialize in the car as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are carpooling to soccer practice, make sure there is a back-up plan in place in the event that the assigned parent does not arrive to pick the kids up at the end of practice. It may be a good idea for your child or his friend to have a cell phone to use in cases like this.
