A gift basket is an ideal solution if you are having trouble deciding what present to buy for a graduation. Available in a variety of sizes, prices and designs, gift baskets can be customized for almost any occasion and make great gifts for any graduate.

From Quick Guide: Gift Baskets
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look for companies that specialize in graduation gift baskets or at least have a large selection for graduates. These companies will deliver directly to the person, making the process even easier for you. Once you choose the right basket, you simply need to enter the delivery details and your credit card information for the basket to be rushed to the recipient.

  2. Step 2

Visit local florist shops, gift shops and even airports to buy gift baskets locally. Finding ready-to-buy gift baskets may be difficult, as most companies deal exclusively online. If you are having trouble locating them, think out of the box: visit wedding stores, commercial supply companies and even large department stores to find them.

  3. Step 3

Look for a more general gift basket if you don't know the person really well or want to choose a safer option. Gift baskets that include a selection of teas and coffees, chocolates or bath products are appropriate for almost every occasion and every person.

  4. Step 4

Customize it yourself. If you cannot find a gift basket made especially for graduation, you can choose a more general one and then add something like a small teddy bear wearing a graduation robe, a miniature graduation hat or a photo album bearing appropriate words on the cover.

  5. Step 5

Wait until the last minute to buy your gift basket if it contains perishable or fragile items. You can also choose to have the basket delivered directly and use a private shipping company for faster and safer delivery.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't be afraid to ask for customization. Most companies will be happy to replace a few items or add additional ones if you request them ahead of time and don't mind paying a small extra fee.
  • Choose a gift basket that serves a purpose long after the contents are gone. This could mean choosing items that come inside a tin can, a decorative wood box or a quality basket.
  • Try to look for a gift basket that is put together on the spot, rather than one that has been assembled in a factory and sold as-is. This will guarantee not only that the items included are fresh, but also that you are getting the most for your money.

on 3/24/2009 What is the best place to go for a mail order gift basket? One site that I stumbled across that impressed me very much was http://www.basketsbeautifulgifts.com. Is there anyone that has any experience with them, and if so, what products did you get from them? I see that they have different spa baskets and meat baskets and others. They seem to be reputable enough. I was just wondering how flexible it would be to get a custom gift basket. If anyone has any experience working with them, please let me know.
