How to Shop for Beauty Products for Mother's Day

When Mother's Day rolls around, it's easy to get lost determining what to shop for. Some mothers love jewelry, while others would rather get music for their iPod. No matter what, beauty products are usually a safe bet. Whether your mother prefers makeup, hair conditioner or hand cream, beauty products can make your mother feel young and radiant again.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shop for sample sizes from a variety of stores. Sample sizes are a great way to let your mother try an assortment of different products, and some shops even let customers take samples home for free. Trial packs are also available that include a range of products from the same manufacturer.

  2. Step 2

Choose beauty products that you know your mother loves. If she's a fan of hand creams, for example, get her a collection that serves different functions (exfoliating, deep moisturizing and anti-wrinkle, for example).

  3. Step 3

Shop for beauty products that feature some of your mother's favorite fragrances. If she loves Lily-of-the-Valley, for example, consider getting some perfume or an essential oil that features the fragrance. You might also consider getting a supplemental product like scented candles.

  4. Step 4

Buy a gift basket that includes an assortment of beauty products. Many major department stores and specialty shops offer gift baskets of specific products (a collection of Christian Dior fragrances, for example). Gift baskets can be very expensive, but they usually feature a terrific array of products in one convenient package.

  5. Step 5

Shop online at QVC.com for one of the most extensive, luxurious collections of beauty products available (see Resources below). From Ojon to Philosophy and Bare Escentuals, QVC offers many name brand products.

Tips & Warnings
  • Set up an automatic delivery system for the beauty products you shop for. For example, you could buy a particular type of hand cream or lotion and have it sent to your mother every 3 to 6 months.
  • Invite your mother to a day at the spa. Spa treatments almost always include pampering with the latest beauty products.
  • Ensure that your mother doesn't have skin allergies before you buy her beauty products for Mother's Day. Some products could react with her skin and cause rashes or other types of irritation. If you notice your mother using specific products or those that indicate they are hypoallergenic, you might want to shop for similar products for Mother's Day.
