Mother's Day gift baskets sound generic, but today it's possible to find terrific presents in gift baskets. Hand cream, makeup, spa treatments and even MP3 players are available in gift baskets from a variety of different stores. Shop for gift baskets in stores you know your mother loves, whether it's a specialty food store or a cosmetics shop.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create a budget when you shop for gift baskets. Gift baskets are typically more expensive than individual, standard gifts, so expect to pay more. If your budget is a concern, you can always buy gift baskets on credit and pay for it each month.

  2. Step 2

Shop for a Mother's Day gift basket at one of your mother's favorite stores. For example, Bath and Bodyworks almost always has some kind of gift basket available, and they are known to create a few around Mother's Day. Origins and L'Occitane are also known for great gift baskets.

  3. Step 3

Buy a basket and make your own! There's no reason you can't go to a craft store like Michaels and get an unfinished basket and fill it with a variety of gifts of your choosing.

  4. Step 4

Buy gift baskets that follow a theme. For example, if your mother loves the smell of lavender, get her a gift basket that features lavender products. If your mother loves to take baths, buy her a gift basket that has bath salts, bubble baths and a variety of other bath related products.

  5. Step 5

Buy gift baskets from QVC.com (see Resources below). QVC offers a variety of gift baskets for sale with a number of different products. Whether you enjoy hair and skin care products from Philosophy or makeup from Bare Escentuals, QVC has something that any mother would love.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider buying gift baskets that come with a creative or reusable container. For example, some gift baskets are actually packed in fine pottery or a terrific wicker basket that can double as a planter.
  • Be sure to buy Mother's Day gift baskets that have non-perishable items unless you can give it to them soon after purchase. Buying a gift basket that has fruit and other foods in it is fine, but only if you know it won't spoil before you give it to them.
  • Be sure that the gift baskets you are interested in can be returned or exchanged before you buy them. Some stores do not permit the return of gift baskets because some people use the products and then try to bring them back.
