Things You'll Need:
- Jewelry store
-
Step 1
Get your mother's measurements. You'll need to know her finger, neck, wrist or ankle size before you can shop for jewelry. You can find this information out in a number of ways: take a piece of jewelry she already owns for measurement, or simply ask someone who already has the answer.
-
Step 2
Shop for jewelry that features your mother's birthstone. May is the emerald, September is the sapphire, and so on. You can speak to a jeweler for more information about the different birthstones, or go to JewelryMall.com (see Resources below).
-
Step 3
Find out what type of stone cut your mother likes. Gems are cut in a variety of different ways (princess and Tiffany, for example). Some gems also look better when cut in specific ways, so speak to your jeweler for more information about which cuts are best.
-
Step 4
Get your mother jewelry that's mature. While it may be cute to get your mother a bracelet that includes a "#1 Mom" charm, it's unlikely she'll wear it. Keep it simple and elegant and it'll go over well.
-
Step 5
Create a budget for Mother's Day. Jewelry can be incredibly expensive depending on what you want and where you go, so be ready to spend.
-
Step 6
Choose QVC.com for Mother's Day jewelry gifts (see Resources below). In addition to a terrific selection of jewelry, QVC hosts sales and incentives for those who shop during the Mother's Day holiday.
