Mother's Day is the perfect occasion to give gardening gifts to the woman with a green thumb. In most parts of the country, Mother's Day is prime time to begin planting and preparing for the upcoming growing season. Show your wife or mother that you appreciate all she does with gardening gifts that will allow her creativity to bloom.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy a new pair of gardening gloves to give as a Mother's Day gift. Choose heavy-duty gloves that will last an entire season and are machine-washable. Select a set of coordinating kneepads that will relieve or reduce knee pain associated with gardening.

  2. Step 2

Make sure your gardener is protected from the elements when she gardens. Choose a wide-brimmed hat for her to wear. Include a bottle of sunblock to prevent sunburn and a large water bottle, so she can remain hydrated as she works.

  3. Step 3

Give an assortment of hand tools that are useful in gardening, such as small spades or shovels, hand rakes and pruning shears. Tie them all together with a pretty ribbon for an attractive presentation or add them to a gardening gift basket.

  4. Step 4

Select seed packets as part of a Mother's Day present. Many home-improvement stores carry seeds for flowers and vegetables. Read the directions on the packages to make sure you live in the appropriate climate zone for each specific plant.

  5. Step 5

Purchase a small watering can to keep on your porch or deck. Use the can to water smaller plants that cannot be reached by a garden hose, hanging plants or those that would be easily damaged by the forceful stream of a hose.

  6. Step 6

Give your wife or mother a gift card to a nursery or gardening center, so she can pick out annuals or other items she wants for the yard. Include a handmade certificate for "time off" from the kids, so she can garden in peace.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask your resident gardener to provide you with a wish list of all of the gardening items she would like as potential Mother's Day gifts. This will help you plan your purchases, without buying something she really does not want or need. Allow your children to pick out and wrap up something from their mom's wish list.
