Flowers are inextricably linked with Mother's Day, especially since this holiday is placed smack in the middle of spring, when so many colorful blooms are abundant and available. However, keep in mind that Mother's Day and Valentine's Day are the two days of the year when florists do the most business and can be overwhelmed by orders. With this in mind, there are a few tips you can follow to ensure successful Mother's Day delivery.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Order your Mother's Day flowers well ahead of time. If you can, place your order at least 1 to 2 weeks in advance. You can either call the florist nearest to your mother's house, or you can call a national flower-delivery service that can find a florist near your mother's home and arrange for delivery.

  2. Step 2

Provide your own card to be delivered with the flowers, or dictate a message over the phone and have the florist add it to your bouquet.

  3. Step 3

Call the florist or delivery service 1 or 2 days before Mother's Day to confirm the delivery. Let her know which delivery time would be best and whether there are any special steps she needs to take, such as calling first or getting a key code to get into a gated community.

  4. Step 4

Ask the florist to suggest a modestly priced arrangement if you have a tight budget. Perhaps, for example, he might suggest a bouquet containing daisies, baby's breath and ivy. Roses become much more expensive on Mother's Day than they are during the rest of the year.

  5. Step 5

Ask the florist whether he has any gifts that can be delivered along with the bouquet. Some florists have candy, statuettes and other gift items they can deliver when they drop off the flowers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Call your mother to find out when she will be home on Mother's Day, or let the florist know whether it's okay to leave the flowers near the front door.
  • Ask the florist for tips for making the flowers last longer.
  • Be prepared to pay a premium price for any flowers delivered on Mother's Day, especially if you are ordering roses.
