Things You'll Need:
- Blank cards with envelopes
- Tags and labels
- Ribbon and string
- Glue or glue dots
- Colored gel pens
- Craft scissors
-
Step 1
Take a trip to your local craft store to buy card-making supplies. Head down the scrapbooking aisle for special Mother's Day embellishments that can set the tone for the entire invitation. Then, build upon that one item to make your decision for the color selection and the texture of the invitation.
-
Step 2
Buy pre-folded blank cards that come with envelopes. Such cards are sold in packs so that you can specifically decorate them yourself for party invitations or other occasions. Choose a pastel color that you can match with a wide variety of stickers, scrapbook embellishments and bits of card stock and trimmings.
-
Step 3
Embellish the front of your invitations with Mother's Day tags and labels. Arrange the focal-point embellishment on the card stock and add ribbons or string around it. If your mom enjoys a hobby like sewing or baking, represent her interests with scrapbooking decorations. Use square, foam stickers to attach the center embellishment and give the invitation dimension.
-
Step 4
Pick out additional sheets of card stock to create smaller decorations for the inside of the invite. Cut out a small square, strip or rectangle and glue it to a page of the card. Glue dots also work well for adhering paper onto cards or scrap pages.
-
Step 5
Write out the details of the brunch to add to the invitation. You can write the specifics of the brunch with colored gel pens, or print the text onto paper and then fit it inside the card. Consider using craft scissors to give the edges of the paper a decorative border.
