Many people enjoy playing pool, but few can do an impressive trick. Pool trick shots are like magic--they look more difficult than they really are. The eye of the observer is usually on the ball being hit and the magic that occurs with a trick shot happens with the cue ball.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Billiards table
  • Cue stick
  • Four billiard balls
  • Triangle (rack)
  1. Step 1

Select a pool trick shot like the Joplin's Dream Shot.

  2. Step 2

Drop 4 balls on the table. The 1 and 2 ball need to be a ball width from the cushion.

  3. Step 3

Direct the 2 ball so that it lines up with the point of the side pocket.

  4. Step 4

Take the 2 and 3 balls and align their centers to the short rail just outside the corner pocket.

  5. Step 5

Check to see if the 3 and 4 balls have their centers aligned to the short rail point of the corner pocket. Relax, since there is leeway with the placement of all four balls.

  6. Step 6

Push the cue ball toward the centerline of the table about a half a diamond away from the side pocket.

  7. Step 7

Strike the cue ball so that it rolls straight into the 3 ball.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a jump shot, hit the cue ball down its center.
  • Do not hit the cue ball too low or too hard.
