A zombie costume can be the most inexpensive and fun Halloween costume to make. For example, with just some makeup you can have rotting or bloody flesh. To complete the look you'll also need some special clothes. You can rummage through your parent's closet or through a thrift store. Here's what you should look for in choosing clothes for your zombie costume this Halloween.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what kind of zombie you will be. If you imagine that your zombie was dead and buried for 10 years, you should pick clothes that look old and from 10 years ago. If you imagine that you became a zombie when another zombie bit you, you can wear newer, more updated clothes.

  2. Step 2

Pick clothes that match. If you're a bitten zombie, you can wear regular clothes that anyone would wear to go to the grocery store. If you were a buried zombie, you might want to choose nicer clothes, as people typically get buried in clothes they might wear to church or a wedding.

  3. Step 3

Stick with dusty, grey colors. No matter what kind of zombie you will be this Halloween, the focus of your costume is the makeup. Choosing dusty colors will ensure that your clothes don't steal focus away from your makeup.

  4. Step 4

Choose clothes that are slightly bigger than what you might normally wear, especially if you plan to dress as a dead-and-buried zombie. Buried zombies have decomposed; this makes them skinnier when they get out of their graves to walk around, so their clothes will appear baggy.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clothes alone do not make the zombie. Makeup will make the zombie. So don't try too hard with your clothes this Halloween and forget about what will really make you into a convincing zombie--the makeup.
  • Don't tear up your clothes. Zombies dress the same way regular people of their lifetime dressed, and wearing rags was never really in fashion.
