Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Liquid latex
  • White or green face paint
  • Black face paint
  • Paintbrush
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 20 drops red food coloring
  • 2 tbsp. chocolate syrup
  1. Step 1

Mold the liquid latex to your face. You can create wrinkles or a flesh-peeling effect with the latex or use it to make fake wounds.

  2. Step 2

Apply a base color. Use white or a light green face paint to create the zombie's realistic deathly pallor. Smear a thick layer of paint on your face, neck and any other skin that will show through your costume.

  3. Step 3

Use a paintbrush to paint a thin, black line under each eye. Smudge the black paint so it creates a shadow effect under your eyes.

  4. Step 4

Paint two more black lines along the underside of each cheekbone. Blend the lines so they look gray. This will give your cheeks a hallowed look.

  5. Step 5

Add more shadows to the sides of your neck tendons and the sides of your nose. Again, apply a thin, black line and blend the paint until it appears gray. Zombies should look as gaunt as possible, so don't be afraid to use this hallowing effect liberally.

  6. Step 6

Mix 1 cup corn syrup, 20 drops of red food coloring and 2 tbsp. of chocolate syrup to create fake blood.

  7. Step 7

Smear the fake blood on your face and in your hair. Muss your hair so it stands up a bit. Rub some dirt in it to look completely realistic. You can also throw some fake blood on the rest of your costume.

Tips & Warnings
  • Shine a flashlight above your head to create shadows under your eyes and trace the shadows with paint to make sure they're in the most realistic place.
  • Add a couple of drops of dish soap to your fake blood before you apply it. The soap makes it not quite as sticky.
