Hang up a piñata to bust open at your child's party and you've added an extra thrill to their special day. To make it even more memorable, help your child make a paper bag piñata. It's a fun and simple craft project that you and your child will enjoy doing together. Use the following as your instructions on how to make a paper bag piñata.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper bag
  • Candy or toy trinkets
  • Stapler and hole punch
  • Yarn
  • Newspaper
  • Tissue paper and decorative items
  • Scissors and glue
  1. Step 1

Pick the size of paper bag you will use to make your piñata. The smaller lunch-size bags will make a small but cute piñata. The larger paper bags, such as grocery size, will make a larger piñata.

  2. Step 2

Fill the bag with the candy treats, leaving about an inch from the top. Use small toys and trinkets to fill the piñata along with the candy. Use newspaper wadded up or shredded as filler if you do not have enough candy and trinkets to fill the paper bag sufficiently.

  3. Step 3

Close the sides of the bag together and fold over at the top. Secure the closure with a scattered row of staples.

  4. Step 4

Punch a hole in the center of the fold with a hole punch. Run a length of yarn through the hole and tie the end pieces together to make your loop for hanging the piñata. Let your child punch a variety of holes in the top fold area and run or weave yarn through the holes to suit their creativity.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the piñata with streams of cut tissue paper or long pieces of yarn. Turn your child loose on the decorating with crayons or markers. Add glitz to your piñata with glitter, glue and sparkle stones. Your child will have a great time decorating. For a fringed look, take strips of colored tissue paper and make scissor cuts all along the bottom half of each strip. Glue the top to the bag in a circular pattern. Repeat this row after row until you have the desired look. The glued areas must have time allotted to dry completely before using the piñata for party fun.

  6. Step 6

Hang the piñata and let the party begin.
