Things You'll Need:
- Polish remover or alcohol
- Cotton
- Toe separator
- Tissue
- Base coat of your choice
-
Step 1
Remove all massage oils and lotions with polish remover or alcohol dipped cotton. This is important because if there is residue from other products, the base coat won't stick and it can spread unevenly or not at all.
-
Step 2
Separate toes with tissue or a separator. This ensures toes won't brush together, rubbing off the product. It also allows the base coat to dry faster because more air flows through the toes.
-
Step 3
Choose the base coat. There are many types of base coats and these can be ridge fillers, nail strengtheners or long-last formulas. There are also basic varieties. Pick a formula that fits your needs.
-
Step 4
Apply the base coat, with the brush provided in the bottle by covering the entire nail with a thin coat of the polish. You need just enough to cover the toe nail. Too much polish will spread unevenly and clump.
-
Step 5
Let the nails dry before you move to color polish. This should only take as long as it takes to do the other foot.
