Planning a party can be a costly and time-consuming job. Give your budget a break, and have some fun creating an invitation that's one-of-a-kind. Sending a special invitation you made yourself gives your guests a sneak preview of the exciting party you have planned.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Card stock
  • Stickers
  • Stamps and ink pads
  • Embosser
  • Glitter
  • Markers
  1. Step 1

Make kids' birthday party invitations using your own designs. Cut construction paper in the shape of a birthday party hat, and add a yarn tassel to the top. Write all the party information inside using marker, or print paper inserts from your computer.

  2. Step 2

Design a wedding or anniversary invitation using decorative paper from a local party or office supply store. Look for gold- or silver-edged papers, colored tissue papers or see-through printable papers. Print party information onto the card. Glue decorative paper onto the card to add an elegant touch.

  3. Step 3

Think outside the box by designing an invitation out of a CD of customized music, a DVD picture show or even a box of chocolates. Print your invitation on card stock, and glue it to the inside of the CD, DVD or chocolate box.

  4. Step 4

Create specialized invitations for each guest if you're planning a small get-together. Make each invitation as individual as your guests. Personalized cards are meaningful and will help get your guests more excited about the party.

Tips & Warnings
  • Before you start making oddly shaped, or non-paper, invitations figure out how to send them. Hand-deliver the invitations, and you'll save on mail costs.
