Taking out the kayaks for a day of fun on the water can be a great exercise. It is a wonderful activity to do with family and friends because you can talk as you paddle. Sometimes getting out of a sit-inside kayak can be difficult and if you are still on water you can fall over or get soaked. Learn how you can get out of a kayak and stay dry.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use your paddle. Many instructors will ask you to use your paddle to balance yourself and get out of the boat without getting wet. There are other ways you can get out and stay dry.

  2. Step 2

Gently lean away from the bank and place your paddle down into the water at 4 to 5 feet. This will get you closer to the dry shore. It will help you be on the land tighter and it will be easier for you to stay dry.

  3. Step 3

Place your paddle behind your back on the kayak and place both of your hands on it behind you. Then put force as you lean towards the shore and stand up.

  4. Step 4

Step out one leg at a time while still holding onto the paddle. Then you will be out and dry, just as you began. Remember to grab the boat because it will automatically launch off the bank and into the water.
