Using hand grips is a comfortable way to increase your steering control when you ride a bicycle. If your grips are worn or you just want a change, follow a few steps to replace them and increase your riding safety.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Remove the original hand grips from your bicycle handlebars. You can either cut them with a sharp knife or a pair of scissors or apply a lubricant for easier removal. If they don't come off easily after cutting them or applying lubricant, gently pull them off with pliers.

  2. Step 2

Wet the inside of the new handgrips and gently slide one hand grip completely onto each of your bicycle's handlebars. Ensure that you get the hand grips on all the way to the end. Gently tap the ends of the hand grips with a mallet if they're difficult to get on.

  3. Step 3

Wait until the hand grips are completely dry before you ride your bicycle. Test the dryness by rotating the grips. When they hold firmly to the handlebars, they're completely dry and ready for use.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can apply window cleaner or hair spray to your hand grips for easier installation. If you decide to use an adhesive, apply it to the grip, not the handlebar.
