Step 1
Choose standard red and black costume makeup or fake blood to add a bloody effect to your ghost costume. Use non-toxic makeup since it will be applied to the skin and near the eyes.
-
Step 2
Begin by applying makeup or fake blood around the eyes and eye holes of the ghost costume. Adding blood around the eyes will give the appearance that the creature under the sheet is a gory, bloody mess instead of just a wandering spirit.
-
Step 3
Apply makeup in a downward pattern, beginning around the eyes and then moving in jagged streaks down the front of the ghost costume. Layering makeup in messy, imperfect streaks give the blood a natural, authentic feel.
-
Step 4
Add a concentrated area of blood in an area near a vital organ, like the heart or lungs, to give the appearance that the corpse under the sheet has been disemboweled or is decaying. Spread heavy makeup in an outward direction to create a bloodstain effect. Apply long streaks of blood near this area to look like fresh blood dripping from the fatal wound.
-
Step 5
Create an extra-creepy effect for your ghost costume by adding bloody handprints to the costume. Cover your palm completely in red makeup or fake blood and press it firmly down onto the sheet. This will leave behind the red, bloody handprint of a victim of the ghastly ghoul beneath the sheet.
