How to Plate French Toast

French toast is a popular breakfast treat in the United States, the Orient and Europe. Once you have made French toast, the next step before serving it is to plate it properly. Here are a few options to help you plate French toast for eye appeal, and to make it look as good as it tastes.

Things You'll Need

• French toast
• Plate
• Fresh fruit
• Confectioner's sugar
• Maple syrup
• Whipped cream
• Grand Marnier
• Cherries or cherry pie filling

Instructions

1. Warm a plate for your French toast. To do this, put an oven safe plate in the oven on low until the plate is warm. It'll keep your French toast the right temperature for best flavor.

2. Place 2 slices of French toast on the warmed plate. You can either leave the slices whole or cut each slice into 2 triangles using a knife. Choose from Steps 3 through 6 to complete your dish.

3. Garnish the French toast plate with some fresh fruit. You can use any kind of fruit that you like. Some good choices include bananas, strawberries or blueberries. Sprinkle some confectioner's sugar onto the plate. Be sure to put some on the French toast and the fresh fruit. The confectioner's sugar gives a nice hint of sweetness to both the French toast and the fruit.

4. Pour some maple syrup onto the French toast, or serve the syrup in an attractive pitcher and let guests serve themselves. Use a good quality pure maple syrup.

5. Impress your breakfast guests with baked French toast served with a Grand Marnier liqueur and fruit topping for something different and decadent.

6. Plate your French toast with whipped cream, a pat of butter or a sprinkle of cinnamon, or try standing the toast on ends with a huge dollop of whipped cream, topped with cherries, in the center of the plate.
