Making your own puppets can be a great experience. You get to use your creativity and imagination. There are many pieces and parts of a puppet, and one of those is the puppet's tongue. Follow these steps to add a tongue to a puppet.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sheet of rubber
  • Magic marker
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun with glue
  • Puppet
  1. Step 1

Draw a tongue shape on a sheet of rubber using a magic marker. You can make a tongue in any shape you desire. Circles, triangles, hearts and forked shapes all make good designs for puppet tongues.

  2. Step 2

Cut the tongue shape out of the rubber sheet using scissors.

  3. Step 3

Use your magic marker to draw a small, straight line on the tongue from the top of the tongue down to the middle. This will make the tongue look more realistic.

  4. Step 4

Place a small amount of hot glue on the backside of the puppet tongue using a hot glue gun. You don't need to use much hot glue, so be sure that you don't apply too much adhesive.

  5. Step 5

Place the tongue, glue side down, inside the puppet's mouth. Press firmly on the puppet tongue to help form a good seal with the puppet's mouth. Let the glue dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make a tongue that has a different color than the color of the inside of your puppet's mouth. This way, the tongue is more visible when the puppet's mouth opens.
  • Be careful to avoid burns when working with hot glue.
