Face powder is one of the most widely-used cosmetics that enhances the appearance of the skin, conceals blemishes and creates a smooth, flawless complexion. Applied properly, powder helps set your makeup and can help protect your skin from harsh weather. Here are some tips on how to apply pressed powder foundation makeup.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a powder close to your natural skin tone. Selecting a translucent powder helps to avoid looking "orangey."

  2. Step 2

Select a clean, full, round brush for even application along facial contours. Some makeup artists recommend a large puff or makeup sponge for this process.

  3. Step 3

Swipe the full end of the brush down across the powder. Tap off the excess powder to avoid applying too much.

  4. Step 4

Dust the powder gently downward across the face, beginning at the forehead and moving toward the chin. Brush the makeup carefully over the entire face to cover all areas equally, including the lips, eyelids, sides of the nose and neck.

Tips & Warnings
  • Apply powder after using liquid foundation and prior to applying eye makeup.
  • If using a puff or a sponge to apply powder, sweep a large, clean brush over the face afterward to gently remove any excess.
  • Using too much powder causes fine lines to become more apparent and creates a mask-like appearance.
