Balloon sculpture and modeling is a fun hobby for adults and children alike, and it is an inexpensive way to get creative and pass the time. One of the most basic creations in balloon modeling is the balloon hat, which comes in an infinite array of shapes and styles. A balloon cowboy hat is an intermediate technique in balloon sculpting and is a great way to get you started in wearable balloon modeling.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 long balloons
  1. Step 1

Begin your cowboy hat by making a basic balloon hat in any color you choose. Twist a small bubble into the knot end of a long balloon and then wrap the long end around your head, pinching the balloon where it meets the bubble. Wrap the bubble around the balloon. Make another small bubble in the opposite end of the balloon and wrap it around the center of the balloon loop.

  2. Step 2

Inflate another long balloon all of the way and double it in half to find the center. Twist the balloon in the middle and connect the center twist to one end of the basic balloon hat. Arch one loose end of the long balloon over the top of the basic hat and twist the end onto the bubble end of your basic hat.

  3. Step 3

Arch the second loose end of your long balloon over the top of the basic hat again, making sure the a single portion of your basic balloon hat is centered between the 2 portions of your second long balloon. Again, twist the end of the long balloon onto the bubble at the end of your basic hat.

  4. Step 4

Pull the 2 portions of your second long balloon down so that they straddle the 2 outer portions of your basic balloon hat.

  5. Step 5

Hold one arch of your second long balloon about a third of the way in on either side. Pinch the balloon and press up gently to shape the arch like the brim of a cowboy hat. Repeat on the other side to finish your cowboy hat.
